Making Transistors Feel the Magnetic Force
This master project intends to address the need for advanced systems with ultrahigh magnetoresistance by fabricating organic field-effect transistors from laterally confined organic nanostructures. The nanoscopic confinement will make our devices ultrasensitive to magnetic fields that will, in turn, allow us to elucidate the physical processes behind this novel phenomenon. Our pioneering research concept bridges the gap between fundamental physics and novel applications and thereby sets free the technological potential of ultrahigh magnetoresistance.
Your research project will take place in the Laboratory of Macromolecular and Organic Materials of Prof. Holger Frauenrath at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne which is regularly ranked within the world’s best universities reflecting its outstanding strengths in basic sciences, engineering and technology.
