Annotation Framework for a Scientific Data Repository
Localization Nanoscopy has made rapid progress towards routine in biophysics. The high-resolution technique is based on microscope systems of high-quality optics and description of individual molecules by optical separation. High-resolution images are generated as a result of complex scientific workflow executions. For capturing and disseminating the valuable insights the images have to be annotated. The annotations have to be modelled based on an annotation standard, for example, Open Annotation Data Model. The modelled annotations have to be mapped to the corresponding images for future reference and representation. The modelled annotations need to be stored in an annotation data store for querying and analysis. The goal of this research is to seamlessly integrate the various annotation features into one homogeneous framework. Finally, this annotation framework has to be integrated in the Nanoscopy Open Reference Data Repository.
Goals:
• Evaluate the available annotation tools/frameworks
• Research and report on topics of Semantic Web (Linked Data) and how it scientific for annotation
• Design and implement the novel annotation framework as a proof-of-concept
• Document and test the developed proof-of-concept.
